FOCUS AREA TWO - SUPPORT DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS
Health

Health is a major contributor to nationalal development. A healthy population could help the country prosper by decreasing healthcare costs and contributing to the national economy.

Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) project

Nearly 39 million Ethiopians, most of them in the rural areas, do not have access to a safe water supply. Close to 48 million Ethiopians lack access to basic sanitation. Diarrhea is the leading cause of under -5 mortality in Ethiopia, causing 23% of all under- 5 deaths (73,341 children per year).

Poor sanitation, lack of access to clean water supply, and inadequate personal hygiene are responsible for 90% of diarrheal disease occurrence.

An estimated 64,540 children could be saved every year by improving Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene in the country.

Millions of people are subjected to WASH-related diseases as a result of recurrent droughts and health emergencies resulting from poor sanitation and hygiene.

Our goal in WASH Program at P&D Ethiopia is to reduce the prevalence of diarrheal diseases among children caused by poor access to WASH.

Support maternal and child health projects

Maternal and child morbidity and mortality are very high in Ethiopia from preventable causes. We will contribute to decreasing the maternal and child morbidity and mortality of Ethiopia.

Prevention and control of communicable and non-communicable disease

Ethiopia has a triple burden from communicable, non-communicable, and pregnancy-related problems. We would like to support the government and non-governmental organizations working in reducing communicable and non-communicable diseases in Ethiopia.

Rehabilitation medical service

Ethiopia is at war for more than a year. War is related to various types of devastating injuries that will lead to disabilities.  Spinal cord injury, musculoskeletal injury, traumatic brain injury (TBI), amputation, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), eye and ear impairments are among the commonest injuries from war

Rehabilitation services need to play a central role in the care of war-injured personnel. Rehabilitation services are services directed to facilitate the optimal functioning and community participation of people who experience or are at risk for experiencing disability. In practice rehabilitation services include a variety of health professions and address a wide range of factors that influence disability.
